As a fan of casual wear and a long time devotee to denim, I'm looking at all the ways I can incorporate jeans into my daily looks for spring. The transitional period from winter to spring in LA means light layering is appropriate, and a pair of denim shorts topped with a beanie crosses from season to season quite alright. Here I layered one of my favorite button-ups over a soft henley, over these washed-out black shorts from AG Jeans (also a new favorite!), with an embroidered cropped jacket, oversized satchel, and beanie for an adequate amount of accessorizing.

AG Jeans sits at the forefront of the denim market, and coming from a city known for housing most of today's premium denim brands, that's saying a lot. I was stoked to visit their Beverly Hills store to pick out some pieces for spring- most of which I will be sharing in the next few style posts. I'm happy to be able to share these pieces with you, as I know some loyal readers are also fanatics of denim. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you guys enter a giveaway, in which two winners will be chosen to receive a $500 shopping spree with AG Jeans! Read below for more details-

Athletic infused

A Wang took the athletic look to another level with his current spring/summer collection and it's almost impossible to avoid infusing that aesthetic when it's so easy going (and you can always count on Zara to make some of the most covetable styles more accessible). Not to mention, when the pieces come in the crop and high-waist variety, I just can't resist. Wore these sporty pieces with a pair of pumps for some good ol' contrast. Elastic bands and neutral tones are all I'm about this spring- thanks for the inspiration A Wang.

Spring refresh

The thing that gets me most excited for spring and summer is the forecast of the excessive wearing of crop tops... and the variations they will come in. Instantly fell hard for this one- cropped, long-sleeved poplin shirt from Zara. Crisp and white, always perfectly collocated with bottoms of the denim kind. Speaking of which- upon settling down after travels, I'd been living in roomy boyfriend jeans and I find them to be the most ideal bottoms for the upcoming season. Cuffed and slouched, can be worn with feminine heels, or go all the way with sneakers and sandals. The latter seems to be the case for me, with the addition of a backpack (as functional as it is pretty when you've got a busy day ahead). Crops, slouchy denim, comfy shoes, and functional bags, yep I think that'll be my spring uniform.

I know this time of the year usually points to the celebration of coupledom and it's a great thing- don't get me wrong. I'm more of a celebrate-it-year-round sort of gal, but I think what's more important here is to note the idea of loving oneself during this holiday. Before relationships, you have yourself- to nurture that and to appreciate yourself as your own entity (I feel) should be the utmost core of a healthy life/relationship/what have you. For some (myself included), that love can be found in something as simple as getting dolled up and feeling beautiful for yourself.

This weekend I'm indulging in self-love in a dress, around good music, with great friends- how will you be spending your Valentine's this year?

I didn't mean to fall off this page, but I'm back, and back from NYC, too. As much as I didn't want to fulfill the stereotype of annoying So-Calers complaining about the east coast's freezing cold weather, I very much did that and started counting the days to home upon the first day there. New York has all of its charm, yes, but it's liberating being able to wear whatever the hell you want at (almost) any given time here in LA. Sartorial freedom is what I call it- and this here is a perfect example of that. A composite made of different textures that may not go together at first glance, but are put together anyway: a pebbled leather jacket made thick for great winter wear, a grungy holed-up tee and suede camo shorts (from The Dreslyn) appropriate for warmer days... complete with a studded leather clutch, huge black frames, and bare legs. Sartorial freedom, I'm down with that.

Bombshell pink

Usually I'll dress head to toe in black, gray, or white - in this photo I wore all white and wanted to offset my habitual color scheme with a lustrous pop. I used COVERGIRL's LipPerfection in "Bombshell 327" and became smitten with the silky feel. After a few uses, even for my sensitive lips, I noticed they felt a lot more moisturized than when they would with other lip products. I love the fact that an olive oil-derived emollient, shea, white tea, avocado, aloe, and silk proteins exist in this LipPerfection lipstick!

Spring with Temptu

For spring, my daily look will consist of light foundation, smokey eyes, berry-stained cheeks and lips, and a lot of dewy highlighting. I've been in search for THE highlighting product and finally found it in TEMPTU's "Pink Pearl". To create this easy look, I first applied foundation ("Warm Ivory 003") and then bronzer with TEMPTU's starter kit (both on the 3 o'clock dial). I lightly contoured my face with bronzer using the '3 shape' rule (lining the sides of your face, from temple to right under the cheek bone, to along the jawline) and then took my preferred blush color (I used "Sheer Berry") and held the AIRpod four inches away to achieve a lighter tone.

After the blush comes my favorite part from TEMPTU- the highlighter in "Pink Pearl". I've always wondered how I could achieve that dewy look without using clear gloss over my cheeks (it gets sticky and gross throughout the day), and didn't realize it was done so easily with the right shimmer. I applied "Pink Pearl" with the dial turned to '12 o'clock' and ran the AIRpod over the same areas until I got the right amount I had wanted (3-4 times), and voila- spring summer shine!

For smokey eyes, I used shadows from Urban Decay's Naked 2 and lightly powdered my lips with the same "Sheer Berry" blush from TEMPTU (using the dial at 9 o'clock for a narrower output). Hope you guys found this helpful- I know some of you have been emailing me on how to get that right dewy look. Here you go!
