Black tips

Neon Blush, KIKO Cosmetics, KIKO eyeliner and shadow, makeup and beautyKIKO gel eyeliner and eyeshadow

Up until recently, I've stuck to using one type of eyeliner (Tarte's EmphasEYES clay-based liner). It wasn't until I got to Florence back in early January that I discovered KIKO, a Milano-based cosmetics line, where I lingered in the store longer than I expected to. I was testing out the shadows and blushes, and became especially fixated on their liners. KIKO had such a wide variety, it was a treat studying it all - and it probably didn't help that most of the women I'd see in Florence had killer eye liner and winged tips.

I learned that I could achieve that same sharp look I saw on Italians with KIKO's gel liner. Unlike the Tarte liner that I use (which dries matte), KIKO's has a high shine/gloss finish so it's ideal for ultra blunt cat-eyes or nighttime eye makeup for more extravagant events. Then I found KIKO's Kajal eye pencil, which also produced an entirely different look. On myself, the Kajal came on buttery smooth and almost perfectly smudgy (in the best way possible). I found it ideal for achieving rough smokey eye, or that rocker 'worn-in' look.

Having only grabbed one of each (and already powering through them), I'm bummed I won't be able to restock on these until the next time I'm back in Europe. But I went ahead and did some research on Sephora and grabbed a few products that I feel would do the same trick as KIKO's. Enjoy:

Cool post!! It's always tricky to find that perfect gel liner for the perfect cat eye. Esp one which lasts and doesn't smudge.
