CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara in "Very Black", CoverGirl Smoochies gloss in "Firecracker", CoverGirl Shadow Pot in "Red-Hot 345"
Searching for the best products amongst the huge selection of drug store cosmetics can be a little taxing. I almost always stick to my select products, so when there are recommendations and tips on new items, I love hearing it. Last week, I made my way over to Walgreens in the heart of LA to try out some new products with Tim Gunn and Marsha Chilko- Tim and Marsha gave me a tour and highlighted some of the exciting new P&G and Walgreens cosmetic/beauty products and shared their thoughts on not only the use of each product, but how pertinent they were in the fast-paced nature of the fashion scene.
Usually I shy away from using shimmery eyeshadow, but Marsha convinced me this shade of CoverGirl's Shadow Pot would be perfect... all over my face. In less than 45 seconds, she applied this one shade on my lids, swept it over my cheekbones, and buffed my lips with it. Added a little bit of CoverGirls Smoochies sizzle gloss over the cheekbones and lips, and voila- my face look refreshed and brighter. Indubitably impressed with how much the two products could do in such little time.
And the products above are the others from Tim Gunn, P&G, and Walgreens' partnership with the 2014 People's Choice Awards (PCAs) I'm excited to try. I've heard many good things about the Olay Regenerist cream, Pantene's Rehab creme for your hair (so good), and the Studio 35 Beauty Blender Brush. Other products pictured: CoverGirl's Lip Perfection lipstick in "Bombshell", and the CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara (it really doubles your eyelashes without any clumping).
Make sure to catch Tim Gunn on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards on January 8th at 8pm ET!

Acne jacket, Cameo top, A&F jeans, Coye Nokes pumps, Hare + Hart bag
As the end of 2013 draws near, I realize that it was the year of denim for me. Denim shorts were almost always the default bottoms for summer and for colder days when I wanted comfort with sufficient insulation, skinnies or straight denim were top choices.
Because I'm a denim fanatic, I can't bring myself to spend a load on pairs of jeans all the time. To find the best styles and washes for the best price, I get my denim from A&F. Their jeans were the first things that drew me to A&F years ago and luckily the prices are much more affordable now in my mid-twenties (than they seemed in my teenage years). My favorites are their lighter washes, especially in the destructed denim shorts (staples, and they only get better the more you wear them) and the skinny jeans (that I got one size up for a loose skinny-bf fit). I'm primarily attracted to the medium-light, faded washes, but most of the washes are so good across the board, with that already ‘worn-in’ look, too. I think with each pair just under forty bucks, it's hard not to experiment with their fit range to find the right forever pair.
Finders Keepers overalls, Karen Walker sunglasses, Balenciaga boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 mini
Bonjour from Paris! I wasn't able to sleep much my first night here so I thought I'd update NB with photos from LA, where I'm reminded that it's 30 degrees warmer. Where, in December, you're not insane for wearing short overalls and a tank with no outerwear whatsoever - such a mystifying land LA is. I'd been looking to own a pair of the perfect denim short overalls and found it in this one from Finders Keepers. Luckily in LA it was opportune to wear the short overalls early, but I'm even more excited to wear it over bikinis when it's 100% season appropriate (think Coachella!). Yes, thinking of warm days and pre-summer nights as it is crazy windy and cold here in France... catch you guys later -
A&F knit sweater and shorts, Balenciaga boots, H&M cap, Hare + Hart bag
I'm leaving for Europe soon so I had to scurry to get the last of my Christmas shopping done. One of my stops for holiday shopping is A&F, where you can pretty much form a gift with an entire head-to-toe outfit for under $100 with their current 50% off promo (in stores and online). Getting my cousins some of their favorite pieces for a really good price makes us all happy campers. I even got myself the slinky knit I was eyeing from their Hot Friday event (runs slightly big, this is an XS/S), and of course another pair of destructed denim shorts. (iPhone case also from A&F!) Luckily I live in a place where Christmas time is still mid-70 to 80 degrees, which allows me to wear what I'm wearing, but even if you're not in warm weather, these shorts are good to cross off your summer shopping hit list in advance.
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I'll be traveling this week (follow my Instagram @neonblush for more frequent updates) but if I don't get the chance to check back here, I want to wish you guys happy holidays xx
True Religion jacket and skinnies, Cameo top, Sigerson Morrison boots, Balenciaga bag, ASOS beanie, Ray Ban wayfarers
I'm sticking to my usual color scheme, but in a handful of different textures, for the holidays: winter whites with slick blacks. These coated super-skinnies from True Religion are my pair of choice as of late- perfectly insulated for cold days, but still light and easy going for the warmer days here in LA. True Religion was the pinnacle of denim during my high school days, but since then, they've taken a new direction that I'm loving: muted stitching, better fits, and the addition of tops in the form of staple Moto outerwear and basic boy tees. I found the right shade of off-white (who knew it'd be so hard?) in this Moto jacket to go with my favorite lace number.
Acne jacket, Nasty Gal sweater, Diesel jeans, Loeffler Randall sandals, Mirlo necklace
A good pair of black skinny jeans is the staple of all staples, and when you find a really good one, you find that it pops up in almost any type of occasion. Good for dressing up a slouchy sweater, and for adding something tightly packed to a piece that's a little more undone, which is what you see above. I've worn these Diesel Skinzee jeans way more than a few times and still they've maintained their perfect fit - the recovery process for the denim is fascinating actually. Perfect contrast to the boxy off-shoulder sweater and textured Acne leather moto.
ASOS beanie, Bebe jacket, Civilianaire top, Diesel jeans, Superga sneakers
When I'm working at a coffee shop but I want to stay comfy and look somewhat presentable, slick, black skinnies are the first to come to mind. These Skinzee jeans keep the shape of the fit quite alright even after hours of fidgeting and sitting cross-legged. Too many times I'll fall in love with a piece in its initial form, and then once it loses its shape after a few wears, it doesn't feel quite the same. Thankful for the long-lasting qualities of these skinnies, you don't even know.
Rodebjer blazer, Nasty Gal top, Diesel jeans, Zara pumps, Yosi Samra clutch
Also wore these to a holiday dinner at a friend's in the OC this weekend- smooth enough to wear to a dinner party, and enough fabric give to keep things in tact even after a huge feast. Love how forgiving these skinnies are, no matter what the occasion.
This post was done in collaboration with Diesel and Fashiolista.
3.1 Phillip Lim sweater, Bebe skirt, Balenciaga bag, ASOS beanie, Nike sneakers
For days when you’re on the go, comfort is almost mandatory—sneakers and a sweater are key and of course, utilizing other tools that could make your demanding day go by a lot easier. I’ve had the pleasure of using the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Gear (in rose gold too!) for the past few weeks and I’ve really appreciated the level of help they provided on the busiest of days.
I teamed up with Who What Wear to give the Note 3 and Gear a try- I think up until now the large screen intimidated me but it’s proven to be more than necessary. Not to mention, the Note 3 is also loaded with handy features like a really neat planner and accessible sticky-notes to keep me on my toes with reminders and my never-ending to-do list; their intuitive GIF/moving photo camera ability (I made and published three on Who What Wear- check out my Samsung Style Spotlight page here); quick multitasking, etc. And to have the ability to speed through emails and text messages via the Galaxy Gear is actually a lot more helpful than you imagine it to be. Dual serving, the Gear is pretty much a watch and your personal assistant in one. I’m still ever-learning the power of these two gadgets, but so far, really impressed.
Be sure to follow my Instagram to see how I’m using the Note 3 and Gear to document my days x
Zara jacket, Equipment blouse, Genetic Denim skinnies, Proenza Schouler PS11 mini, Zara beanie
Attempting beanie variation with a little pom pom action. Other than that, not much of a deviation from my usual get-up: beanie, silk blouse, leather moto jacket, comfy skinny jeans, and black boots. This combo has been in effect 99% of the time the last two weeks- it's been crazy busy but I can't wait to finally unwind next week for the holidays.
Just wanted to check in real quick and apologize for the lack of posting! I'll be posting a little more consistently in the upcoming week. Hope you're all enjoying the weekend x
Zara coat and sweater, Equipment blouse, A&F denim shorts, Balenciaga bag, Acne boots, Calvin Klein belt, ASOS beanie, Céline sunglasses
This weekend's cold snap in California finally permitted the wear of coats and such, and I did it in weird, nonsensical LA fashion by pairing this robe coat with denim shorts. I'd always loved the coupling of a long jacket with something barely-there underneath- I think it adds the right amount of appeal and edge to a sophisticated coat. Of course, only in So Cal though.
Jen's Pirate Booty dress, A&F suede jacket, Balenciaga boots, Zara bag, ASOS beanie
Strolled through downtown after dinner with Steve and was greeted by a block fully adorned with beautiful crystal blue lights. Even though the start of the new month definitely reverted to summery temperatures, the blue lights got us in the holiday mood. Warm or cold, holiday or not, I feel like white dresses can be worn for either occasion, and right now I'm all about this Butterfly dress from Largo Drive (also wearing a pair of their Free People shorts underneath). Light and airy, contrasted with chunky black boots and a beanie- you know, the only way to go about LA.
UNIF moto jacket and dress and Motel dress
Black Friday deals are still around and Cyber Monday is upon us- this time is most likely a shopper's favorite time of the year and I can definitely attest it. I've gone ahead and chosen out some of my favorite pieces from what I feel are the best deals right now. Nasty Gal is offering 30% site-wide, ASOS with 20%, and Shopbop with their Big Event sale.
Nasty Gal is the hub for the best moto-grungy looks and with 30% off, almost everything is irresistible. I snagged myself two knits, one cropped (of course) and one with a turtleneck, and was seriously eyeing that UNIF moto jacket above- reminds me of Acne's Mape, but with interchangeable collars!
Alexander Wang sandals and bag, 3.1 Phillip Lim moto jacket, Rag & Bone satchel, Alexander Wang shoes
And then there are the sales that I wish I had saved more for. Sometimes, the really good pieces still remain and they get marked off 30-40%. Unfortunately my shoe size is rather common so usually it's one of the first ones to sell out. Such is the case for these gorgeous Antonia sandals from Alexander Wang, sad face.
But let's revel in this perfect cognac moto jacket from 3.1 Phillip Lim, which at 40% off, leaves it at sample sale pricing. So good. And yeah, definitely feeling the neutrals and browns lately, if you haven't noticed!
Victoria, Victoria Beckham tuxedo dress, 3.1 Phillip Lim boots, Jay Ahr dress
Net-a-Porter, I feel, offered one of the best sales this weekend- up to 50% off on really great pieces, one of them being those over-the-knee 3.1 Phillip Lim boots and pieces from emerging line Jay Ahr.
Staple leather skirts, gorgeous Toga Pulla buckled boots, decadent coats, blazers, and jackets, that floral Acne dress I've been swooning over for the past few months. I was surprised to see that so many good pieces actually filtered through to going on sale.
Alexander Wang sandals, Lover sweater, Acne skinnies, Saint Laurent bag
And then there's Matches! Thank you, Matches, for surprising me with a 30% off Black Friday deal (ends today at night!) because I had been planning on purchasing a jacket anyway, and randomly finding it on sale two nights ago after a long day and night was more than pleasant. The sale only applies to select pieces, but at least there's still a consistent size run for each item.
All the staples: black Acne skinnies, J Brand leather trousers, black Alexander Wang sandals, all on Matches. Sort of wish I had restrained myself on all of those Zara purchases this past year!
