H&M F/W'13

3/30/13

H&M F/W'13

Keeping mental tabs on those over-the-knee boots, PERFECT slouchy turtleneck sweaters, the leather moto vest, and boxy bags. And uh, everything else too I guess- the oversized blazer, the fringe skirt(/dress!), the (faux?) fur jacket. I love that the more accessible brand was able to debut a collection during Paris Fashion Week. I've been actively reminding myself to stave away from the likes because of my efforts and desires to move towards being more eco-friendly, but at the same time I'm met with an appreciation for brands that are able to make these higher-fashion designs obtainable for us average folks. Really caught in between with this collection. What're your thoughts on this?

Insta-March

3/28/13

Zara bag, Karen Walker sunglasses, Stila eyeliner, Mally lipgloss, Shu Uemura lash curler, St. John coin purse, Daniel Wellington watch, Stila eyeshadow

Weather's been way too good to us... prompting a lot of peace signs, sunglasses wearing, and ice cream eating.

I got these heels and leather skirt from Zara as a recent purchase. Love the skirt's detailing and the sandal's YSL-touch.

I'm wearing some of my favorite rings in the first photo, one of them being Verameat. I also was able to limit my macaron consumption to once or twice for an entire month--go me! Also, how gorg and awesome are those A.Wang shoes?

I love seeing cherry blossom trees blooming all over LA! Such a gorgeous sight when you see an entire row of them. Here I'm wearing a Current/Elliott jacket, RayBan wayfarers, and Zara pretty-much-everything-else.

I can never say no to brunch--especially a good runny egg with perfectly made crostini. I also got to enjoy brunch with Net-a-Porter earlier this month.

Even after using Instagram almost consistently for the past two years, it's still addicting as ever. If you're not already on there, follow me on Instagram for little snippets of occurrences and previews on posts. Otherwise, happy Thursday :)

In the sleeves

3/27/13

ASOS coat, Zara top and skirt, 3.1 Phillip Lim heels, Nordstrom beanie

Mixing a little bit of streetwear with baroque in this t-shirt sweater that I'm obsessed with. Man, Zara has been killin' it lately with their basics line! Minimalist with a twist is what I'm coveting right now and they are doing it so well with enticing prices. The top is generally unassuming and then once the eyes graze the sleeves, they're greeted with embroidered goodness. I love the thickness of the stitch holding the netting together, and how the sweater looks chic over a skirt, skinny jeans, anything. Easy going and simple--that L.A. living, ya know? Hope you guys are having a good week so far!

Wrap me up

3/26/13

L-R: Balmain, IRO, Helmut Lang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Helmut Lang

Always love a good wrap-around-the-waist by way of plaid button-up... so why not just commit to it fully and wear a wrap skirt. (Okay yeah that first one is a random insert but it's a jacquard Balmain skirt and it's just too gorgeous to not use anywhere when possible haha.) So here's my wishlist of wrap skirts all kinds of perfect for warmer days, of course in neutral grays and blacks. IRO and the second Helmut Lang piece are probably the most timeless of the bunch, but if none of these are attainable (let's be real), I wouldn't mind trying this wrap skirt. Not exactly knotted like the above, but almost just as cool.

Utilitarian touch

3/25/13

thrifted jacket, Free People dress, Theyskens' Theory boots, Karen Walker sunglasses, Proenza Schouler PS11, Vanessa Mooney necklace, ASOS earcuff

These were taken a while back--and the utilitarian blazer found at a local thrift store even further back--but I still love the jacket almost as much as I do designer pieces. Tailored and belted just right to add enough structure to a grungy, loosely flowing dress. I can also see this over a feminine dress with killer boots or furiously layered for next fall. It has a tinge of Rag & Bone, no? Haha, sometimes, thrifting is that much better... especially at 1/100th the price.

Channel blue

3/20/13

Theory blazer, Elizabeth & James shirt, Theyskens' Theory pants, ShoeMint boots, RayBan wayfarers, Proenza Schouler PS11

Lately the way I've been seeing the color blue has been like the way we typically see black- it's classic and wearable, dressed up or down. I know the proposed color of the year is supposed to be emerald, but I'm thinking blue is it for me. I'm ready to welcome back baby blues, and of course I'm drawn to cobalt blue (hel-lo, summer-perfect PS11) and steel blue (the pants look really dark, but in person they're a gorgeous blue-grey color). You guys have any preferred colors for the year?

Slouch and wrap

3/18/13

Joe's Jeans leather jacket, Zara knit and skirt, Theyskens' Theory boots, Proenza Schouler PS11, Karen Walker sunglasses, Verameat Bone-ita ring

This wrap skirt--I mean, how could we not? Like many other Zara pieces, this was bound to be a heavily blogged piece... as it should be. It's gorgeous and clean, easy to pair up with almost anything. My favorite thing to wear with classic pieces with clean lines is a good slouchy sweater so I pulled out the ol' highlighter yellow knit and flung a leather jacket over myself for a night out with friends. I'm sure this skirt will be in heavy rotation for spring, and worn a handful of different ways. Love it.

City beach

3/13/13

Gap blazer, Forever 21 top, Madewell shorts, Theyskens' Theory boots, Nordstrom beanie, Linea Pelle tote, Daniel Wellington watch

Since it's been feeling like paradise out, I thought I'd share these sun drenched photos with you all. This is one of my absolute favorite places to go to, and it's right there after a short walk through a small community in Seal Beach. We hadn't set on going past the man-made sanded wall structure but the vacant and picture perfect scenery was so idyllic, we couldn't resist... even if it meant looking silly standing in the sand with heeled boots, a beanie, and a blazer haha. Cheers to a gorgeous Wednesday xo

Getting into jumpsuits

3/11/13

Zara jumpsuit, Shop Sosie blouse, Proenza Schouler P11, ShoeMint heels, Jessica Simpson hat, Karen Walker sunglasses, Daniel Wellington watch

I was never really a fan of jumpsuits until I tried on this faux number on at Zara. Always kind of afraid of getting stuck to just wearing IT, especially if it were a jumpsuit of the longer kind, and with prints. Too much of... one thing. But it being leather-ish and short conjured up ideas on different ways to dress it-- alone as is, over sheer black stockings, or under a white blouse buttoned all the way up as you see here. I had always thought that wearing a one-piece meant that it would be difficult to be creative, but it turns out they do have some versatility. I've yet to find one that fits me comfortably 100% but this one was close, and now I'm on the scavenge for more (including overalls!--speaking of which, holy Phillip Lim). Of course loving this gorgeous one from Sonia Rykiel and this long-sleeved romper (hate this word) from Parker. How do you guys feel about jumpsuits?

Aviators

3/10/13

Chanel sunglasses, Jennifer Zeuner bracelet, Michael Kors watch

Before I got into huge, rounded frames and wayfarers, I think my first love was the aviator. In middle and high school I was obsessed with pairing denim and floral pieces with aviator sunglasses. Of course back then I sported ones that were way unknowingly too big for my face, but I finally found a pair that fits right. Ha. These Chanel aviators from Sunglasses Shop are my grown up versions and I love them! I've been eyeing aviators from RayBan as well, what do you guys think of this one?

Bleach black

3/7/13

ASOS leather cap, J Brand jacket, Lovers + Friends dress, Isabel Marant sneakers, Proenza Schouler PS11, Jennifer Zeuner bracelet, Michael Kors watch

Rocking the all black with a little bit of white on a gorgeous warm day a couple weeks ago. I'm so bad with being punctual on posting these looks near the dates they were actually taken on. Because now it's gloomy and damp outside and looking at these pictures is throwing me off. Blech. I'm looking forward to changing the wardrobe choices up for the spring season, but I know I'll still stay almost exclusive to my routine black pieces and denim jackets (this one is off the charts beautiful). Just a creature of habit, I guess... in any case, I'm doing some initial spring cleaning and I'm adding new items to the blog shop weekly! Enjoy your weekend :)

Grown up uniform

3/5/13

Topshop beanie, Balmain blazer, 3.1 Phillip Lim tee, Paige boyfriend jeans, Jennifer Zeuner necklace, Proenza Schouler PS1, Saint Laurent boots, Karen Walker sunglasses, Proenza Schouler wallet, Pamela Love rings, Gabriela Artigas ring, Nikki B wrap bracelets, Balenciaga bracelet

I love dressing around a good blazer, especially because it's classic and it reminds me of grown up uniform attire. And I strangely love school girl/uniform attire. Also because the one above is from Balmain and you can't do wrong with Balmain... have you seen Rousteing's latest divine inventions for FW13? Anyway, pairing up classics with classics is fool proof, so a good blazer belongs with a good ol' white tee and trusty boyfriend jeans. The wash on this pair from Paige seems promising (would prefer a different color stitch though), but I've yet to try it on for fit. One size up may be a good idea?

Accessorizing an outfit clothed entirely in staples is also fun, no? I stick to neutrals and one pop of color and one or two distinct details here and there. Found my favorite color in the form of my favorite headgear at Topshop and uhh this Proenza Schouler beauty is making me really (like, really really) want a PS1. Perfect size, material, subtle print, color... AH. My insides hurt looking at it. Good thing the price tag borders on a five-digit number so that's enough to discourage my Proenza wants (/needs). Other than that, at least there's a slightly more affordable PS1 wallet and rings and bracelets to count on for dutiful accessorizing. Loving this Jennifer Zeuner necklace--simple with an (pointy!) edge and the Karen Walker Super Dupers in black.
