T by Alexander Wang muscle dress, 3.1 Phillip Lim shorts, Alexander Wang sandals, Karen Walker sunnies, Comme des Garcons wallet, Maison Martin Margiela bracelet, 3.1 Phillip Lim mini Pashli
Late-night wishful thinking and a thirst for the finer things brings me to this point. With no budget in mind, this would be my perfect way of lounging around long summer days, clad in whites, heather greys, and yellows (my favorite color, by the way), and smelling of delicate daisies. It's my favorite color, but I think the best outfits for summer always include only splashes of yellow.
Been eyeing a few muscle tees lately and realized this muscle knit dress from T by Alexander Wang is actually just the ideal piece I'd been imagining and searching for. Worn with or without the Phillip Lim shorts from The Outnet, the knit can look appropriate for the hot weather when paired with these color-blocking Alexander Wang 'Carmen' sandals. To add, this semi-translucent mini Pashli satchel in "milk" (black version here and bigger version here) burns in my mind as summery perfection. Practicality aside--it's such a seasonal piece in my opinion--I've been seemingly obsessive with white bags as of late.
Beauty accessories: Fresh's Sugar lip moisturizer in "Coral", NARS blush in "Liberté" (I've stopped using cult-favorite "Orgasm" and switched over to this), Marc Jacobs' "Daisy", and the trusty, fail-proof Bumble and Bumble surf spray to top it all off.
Gap blazer, Zara blouse, Kasil Workshop trousers, Joie booties, Proenza Schouler PS11
Hadn't really planned to look like I had just come off of work this past weekend but I guess this is the result of desperately needing to re-use pieces from a closet that hasn't been updated in a while. I've been good at averting my eyes from impulse buys (that are always too quickly enticing for your own good) for the sake of saving and to guilt trip myself over the amount of waste we must create in our lifetimes with the crap that we buy and don't use forever. Feeling rather green... what with not maniacally shopping/wasting and with being on a steady vegetarian/on-and-off-again pescetarian kick lately (after seeing this video that broke my heart). I could go on in different tangents but I'll stave from doing that to reserve what little brain power I have left at this hour. My goal this week was to reap at least 7 hours of sleep per day--so far, I've failed every single day. Alright, good night.
P.S. thanks for all of the sweet comments on my last post--denim is almost like my second skin!
Quiksilver shirt, Kasil Workshop jeans, J Brand jacket, Botkier bag, Zara sandals, Forever 21 scarf
Emulating that 'borrowed from boyfriend' look with this chambray shirt from Quiksilver and fitted boyfriend denim trouser from Kasil. Easy but cool enough to... keep cool I guess. The guys know comfy wear, and that's exactly what I needed this weekend, especially having followed a long week of sleep deprivation. Glad it's over, whew. Planning on handling this week much better than last, fingers tightly crossed. How'd your weekends go?
Zara top, Romwe blouse, Forever 21 skirt, Proenza Schouler PS11, Theyskens' Theory boots, Michael Kors watch, Vanessa Mooney ring
Tried to snap a few (usable) photos with 15 minutes left in the good hour and ended up with a couple shots against different streets and walls as we were walking to meet Crystal and Cindy up for dinner. Since it's been an awfully tiring (but fast, thankfully?) week, taking photos at any given free time is the only way to go. Running on only a couple hours of sleep and I'm not even sure if I'm forming coherent sentences on here. I've had coffee for a grand total of two days this week--that's a big deal considering I hate needing coffee and would rather avoid it. But this week, this week I REALLY need it. Can't say this enough, but I can't wait for the week's end.
Rag & Bone cardigan, Zara top, !iTEM skinnies, Zara shoes, Melie Bianco tote, RayBan wayfarers
I've been trying to figure out the different ways I could wear this cardigan for all sorts of weather and with various color combos... decidedly, I think its marriage to a black and white ensemble is my favorite. Coupled with my go-to eyelet top and black heels, and favorite white skinnies, it pretty much joins the ranks as a favorite piece.
Karen Walker sunglasses, A.L.C. dress, Proenza Schouler PS11 mini, Maison Martin Margiela bracelet, Jennifer Meyer bracelet, House of Harlow 1960 bangle, Jeffrey Campbell boots, Acne denim jacket, Alexander Wang coin wallet, Jennifer Zeuner necklace, Bobbi Brown blush
Something I'd wear on a casual Friday night out, simultaneously all things (except the Bobbi Brown blush, which I have) are on my longstanding wishlist, hmph. Making these collages are always so fun, I should be making hundreds more since I always have a ton of product spilling out of my 'wishlist' folder!
Anyway, best things first: HOW good is that white PS11 mini? It's the perfect mini white bag, and although I didn't like the shape in black, it seems perfect in white. Paired with an equally gorgeous salt and peppered A.L.C. dress, a quintessential Acne denim jacket (in an excellent indigo wash!) and these awesome snakeskin-patterned leather Jeffrey Campbell boots, the PS11 mini evolves into something edgier, slightly casual despite its crisp white appearance... if that makes sense.
As for the other accessories, I've been coveting the Karen Walker 'Super Duper's for a while now, and I know they even sit nicely against my face, but I just can't commit yet. Any thoughts on it? I do know it's a pretty cult-ish pair of sunnies. The bracelets from Maison Martin Margiela, Jennifer Meyer, and House of Harlow 1960, and necklace from Jennifer Zeuner all have that delicacy and simplicity that I've been drawn to in jewelry for the past few months. And the 'Prisma' coin wallet is well, just damn cute. A girl can dream. TGIF!
Alexander Wang dress
A photo from quite some time ago, as part of a little shoot/project I've been wanting to cross off my list for a while. Can't wait to show you the rest of it, hopefully by next week! This A. Wang quilted leather neckline LBD number--gosh, kind of fell in love with the edgy simplicity of it when I was sifting through all the goodies at Madison in LA.
Speaking of little dresses, summer is on the cusp of kickin' in full gear and I'm just a bit obsessed with them right now. Thumbed through online stores and the dresses on sale on Net-a-Porter and decided that the following were perfect (for me). Loving these ones by Sister Jane: a studded leather collar against a gray tweed dress (too good), this black laced dress with gold-tone collar tips and leather cuffs, and this white lace dress (on sale!), the black's counterpart. Stretch the budget a smidge, and we've got two dresses with equal parts simplicity and beauty... something quite perfect for our year-round summery days in LA: Dolce Vita's 'Valentina' lace dress, and the 3.1 Phillip Lim 'collapsed kite' dress. What a dream.
Tracy Reese sweater dress, Zara shoes and tote, Ray Ban wayfarers
Bits and bobs of my short SF trip... of course, comprised of numerous trips to various ice cream parlors, brunch spots, consignment stores, coffee shops, local dive bars, and a whole lotta other random stuff. The gorgeous LA-esque weather probably won me completely over this past weekend but something about SF being a nice medium between NY and LA makes me feel so comfortable there.
Oddisee feat. Bon Iver - Paralyzed
Came back from a short trip to SF and I'm missing it already. Didn't get to take many pictures (what a relief actually, putting away the DSLR for once) but I did manage to get some shots (all mostly consisting of food) via iPhone. Above is one of the few shots, showcasing a few travel essentials: iPad 3, Naked palettes 1 and 2, KORRES body and lip butter, Chanel face illuminator, Shu Uemura eyelash curler, and various brushes. I'm convincing myself I'll get better at properly using the brushes if I just try to use them more often.
2020Ave dress, Guess wedges, Proenza Schouler PS11, Michael Kors watch
Usually not a fan of pink, but it's fun pieces like this that make me kind of just love the darn color. Spring and summer generally imply adding a splash of vibrancy in your wardrobe, don't they? Ironically, the day I felt colorful enough to wear this out, the weather 180'd and turned for the colder... which made me stick out like a sore thumb in public as the day carried on. Ah well, it's not everyday I have a trail of sheer, pink pleated goodness following my every step anyway.
I'm leaving for SF in a few hours and will be connected to the interwebz only via iPhone/Twitter/Instagram. Hoping to catch a real early breakfast at one of my favorite spots... follow me @neonblush! Happy Friday, love you all.
Rag & Bone cardigan, 2020Ave shorts, Theyskens' Theory boots, Proenza Schouler PS11, RayBan wayfarers, Forever 21 choker
Stuck to my go-to formula of dressing with a long, drapey cardigan + free-flowing top + shorts + boots, and found dressing to be quite fun mixing striped knits with bright lace shorts. Kind of obsessed with these neon shorts, the color adds such a fun twist on your overdone laced short. And the cardigan, sort of chunky but not overbearingly so, is just something I haven't been able to peel off of myself.
ASOS top, Rodebjer blazer, American Apparel shorts, Zara sandals, VJ Style duffle, J.Crew cuff
Taken a while back... seeing these pictures of my hair make me regret 1) attempting to dye my hair back to its normal color this last weekend (I feel near gothic) and 2) coloring my virgin hair in the first place. Two words: never again. Two other words: Happy Friday. Gonna enjoy the weather in the OC this weekend before I head to SF (finally, we reunite) for a break from the sunshine next weekend. TGIF!
