Faux fur coat c/o Nasty Gal, Forever 21 blouse/skirt/choker, Steve Madden wedges, Melie Bianco bag, The Caravan sunnies
In the beginning I had hoped for a really cold winter, but I'm kind of digging the summery feel we've been having! It definitely makes running errands a lot less irritable and exhausting, not having to step out in the cold and then heating up with all of the layers on as the day progresses. 80-degree days in December warrant short skirts and sheer tops, thankfully. Right now all I worry about is having a jacket that is light but does the job when gusts of wind pick up. Absolutely loving this shaggy jacket from Nasty Gal - the ombre and furriness go great with any solid-colored or two-toned outfit, and loosens things up a bit. My kinda winter, I guess.
In My Air blouse, Ark & Co. skirt c/o Nasty Gal, Alexander Wang tote, Dolce Vita boots, Forever 21 hat
Right now, it's all about pleated skirts (thank you Tammy from Nasty Gal!), sheer blouses, and textured leather for me. I combined my love for all three and formed this outfit for Christmas day, which was as eventful as lounging around in my PJs, stuffing my face with delicious home-cooked meals, and having movie marathons. But now that Christmas 2011 is done and over with, the next big thing to look forward to is NYE! I've got my dress picked out, and I'm pretty excited to wear it... even though the chilly weather won't be favorable.
Anyways, speaking of current obsessions, follow me on Currently Obsessed to keep up with the pieces I'm lusting after. I'm constantly scouring the net for stuff I probably can't afford so it's updated pretty often.
Just a couple of things I'd love to wear during this time of the year. I've been spending quality time with family and some friends - very rewarding so far. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas, xo.
1. Gucci two-toned silk/leather dress
2. Reed Krakoff sandals
3. Carven cocoon coat
4. Yves Saint Laurent chain necklace
5. Urban Decay NAKED2 Palette
6. Proenza Schouler PS11
7. Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume
Rodebjer blazer, vintage knit, Alexander Wang tote, Zara jeans and heels
Strolling in Old Town Pasadena, trying to get some last minute Christmas shopping done. I've been wanting to get my hands on the perfect oversized blazer for the longest time and I've found the one from Dear Fieldbinder, who, by the way, is offering my readers 15% off their entire order with the code "neonblush". This blazer is drapey and thick, almost like a kimono coat of some sort, but still structured and put-together, which provides a nice balance to my habitual casual-knits-and-denim combo. I love it and can't wait to wear it with shorter-lengthed bottoms and skirts for the springtime. Happy Wednesday guys! xo
2020AVE pleated skirt, Forever 21 cropped jumper, GAP denim jacket
While going through the annual stress of finishing Christmas shopping, the lover boy and I decided it would be nice to take a breather. Sunday blessed us with a rather warm day, perfect for a surprisingly secluded session at the beach. This pleated skirt (20% off anything in the store with code "neonblush") was so appropriate for our impromptu beach trip! Love the front opening and the train in the back - two contrasting lengths just right to tackle the odd spectrum of our LA winter weather. Cheers to the holidays!
I've gotten a handful of emails asking about my skincare regimen. During the winters I think I tend to take better care of my skin, mainly because it does react to the colder temperature by drying out (normally doesn't happen otherwise). Here's what I use almost religiously during the wintertime:
The recently discovered Rose Face Mask from Fresh is one of my favorites. It's a gel mask made from rose oil and water, chamomile, aloe, and cucumber, and it's so soothing. After going about my usual routine with Kiehl's, every two or three days I spread a thin layer of the mask onto damp skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once 15 minutes is up, I wash my face with warm water and it feels completely fresh - renewed, almost. But before I put on the mask, I wash my face with Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser, take off any remaining eye makeup with Kiehl's Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover and then tone it with, yet again, Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner. I trust and stick with Kiehl's because it's consistently made my skin feel clearer and gentler. The toner removes any remaining crap off of my face, and it moisturizes it with Vitamin E, and kernel and avocado oils.
After the mask, and of course, before any face moisturizer, I apply Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Serum. Serum is something I like to splurge on, especially because it's supposed to penetrate your skin. Call me paranoid, but I want to make sure I find the best stuff if it's seeping into my deepest pores. I love Estee Lauder's serum, but I have been wanting to get my hands on the full bottle of Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum - I've sampled it from Sephora and that stuff feels even more amazing and refreshing. I'm running low on Estee Lauder's so I might have to get Ole Henriksen's soon...
To finish things off, I evenly spread Radiance Night Creme from Burt's Bee's over my face (avoiding the area surrounding my eyes) and dab a little bit of Origins' Eye Doctor cream under and over my eyes (so smooth). The Radiance Night Creme is 99% natural, made with royal jelly and shea butter, which really persuades me into thinking that this stuff is legit. I'm on my second jar so far and it has done my skin no wrong. I also love it because it's inexpensive and it works just like its more expensive counterparts that I've used before it.
To avoid waking up with awfully dry lips the next morning, I put on Burt's Bees Lip Balm before jumping into my bed. Following suit are my hands, arms and legs with Burt's Bees' Milk & Honey Body Lotion. The body lotion is natural, made with milk, honey, coconut oils, and Vitamin E - it moistens my skin almost instantaneously and it stays like that for a long time. My favorite lotion to date, and I don't mind the sweet smell.
Do you guys have any skincare secrets? I've been such a skincare nut lately (ask my boyfriend) and I'm always looking for the next best product. Right now, while I'm running low, I've got my eyes on this Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado from Kiehl's, and as mentioned earlier, Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum. I'm a sucker for lip balms, too, and wouldn't mind trying this: Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in "pink blossom". Any thoughts?
Chicwish boyfriend coat, The Quiet Riot top, Forever 21 skirt, Steve Madden wedges
This is what winter in good ol' LA is like: a sheer top, suede skirt, and a boyfriend coat to keep 'warm.' This past weekend, that was all that was needed - not complaining! I'm enjoying the days I can actually walk bare-legged, it's quite refreshing in the winter time. But since it has been a lot colder than in the past years, for some time now I'd been on the pursuit to find the perfect shapely boyfriend coat and I haven't come across one in my size or budget-friendly... until I got this one. The unusual reddish color, the way the sleeves hang on my arms, and the 70/30% wool/cashmere fabrication is smashing - easily my current obsession.
Blue Jeans by Lana Del Ray
Lamb & Flag cable knit sweater, LNA silk pants, Forever 21 fedora, Zara heels and bag
If you follow me on Instagram (@_jennyong), you'd know that I wore this some time two weeks ago, when I was running some errands. I was sitting around, checking my emails and messages while the boy creeped and played around with his camera lens. Excuse the semi-stupefied facial expression in the first photo.
Right now I'm scrambling to figure out what to do/what to wear for NYE. The year went by so quickly, I'm not really able to keep up anymore. We're already half way through December - how did that happen?
P.S. My friends over at Dear Fieldbinder have the JC Rumi boot in stock and are giving my readers 15% off of anything in the store with the code "neonblush" (good until December 31). Of course, I snagged a size 7 for myself! Go get them while most sizes are still available...
P.P.S. The Jay Et Elle giveaway is still happening until next Tuesday!
Staple knit, Kasil Workshop jeans, Alexander Wang 'Robyn' tote, Forever 21 accessories
My eyes are especially keen to Australian labels as of late - everything I've seen so far has a note of versatility and uniqueness even while maintaining a classic feel. Right now I'm digging Staple the label, which houses collections of, well, wardrobe staples. I got this black knit from Jay & Elle last week and it doesn't disappoint. It's a basic on another level, and I love that. Jay & Elle's providing 15% off of the knit for my readers, check here.
So, to share my love for Aussie brands, I'm hosting a little giveaway with Jay & Elle for a chance to win a $50 giftcard. What you've got to do to enter:

Just a handful of things on my long, adult Christmas wish list this year... some things old, some things new, all of which I've been coveting for a long time now and will continue to...
1. 3.1 Phillip Lim 3D cable sweater
2. YSL 'Arty' ring
3. Isabel Marant belt
4. Marc Jacobs leather iPad case (for my future iPad)
5. Alexander Wang 'Chloe' heels
6. YSL chain bracelet
7. Jen Kao pleated skirt
More wish list items to come. A girl can dream.
Romwe suede jacket, LNA silk pants, Zara heels, Melie Bianco bag
I love lounging around in silk and untucked blouses on lazy Sundays - it just seems so appropriate. Caught up with a friend over gourmet waffle sandwiches and did some grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. The weekend ended pleasantly over a dinner for two - we had ramen and sushi, enough to warm up the lover boy and I on that seriously cold Sunday evening. If you can't tell, I reminisce about weekends because I'm always looking forward to it on any given weekday.
I've been a huge fanatic of these LNA pants I got from Shop It To Me. They're comfy but chic, I like that. SITM is a really useful website if you're a chronic shopper - you love to shop, but can't afford to always buy everything at full price so SITM does the sale searching for you and notifies you when the pieces you've been scouring have gone on sale.
Romwe sweater, A'GACI shorts, Melie Bianco tote, 80%20 boots, Courtney Kaye necklace
Here's to one of the many grayscale, cold-winter-inspired outfits to come. I know I always ask for colder weather, just so I could layer, but I'm really beginning to hate the 30-degree nights here in L.A. It's starting to feel a lot like N.Y. but waking up, vacationing in 30-degree-N.Y. was much better than waking up early in the morning here, not wanting to get out of my triple-layered jammies (but doing it anyway for the sake of looking somewhat presentable) for work.
Remember the 80%20 holiday preview I attended a couple weeks ago? I've had these boots since then and I can't seem to stop wearing them. Definitely a staple, comfortable boot that provides just the right amount of height without actually showing it.
Rachel Roy vest, Free People top, DL1961 skinnies, Steve Madden wedges, Melie Bianco bag
Went with my mood and threw on dark neutrals for an event I attended yesterday. I'm really loving this top from Free People, the sheer sleeves, the cute lace-y detail on the front and back... makes for an interesting piece to layer with.
Had so much fun with this group of Lookbookers at d.RA's party this weekend. And, many email exchanges later, we finally met Yuri (creator of Lookbook) and the rest of the Lookbook crew! Sorta weird seeing everyone in real life - it's like you see a plethora of still pictures and it doesn't quite make these people seem... 'real,' for a lack of a better word. Then you see them move and speak and interact, and it's like, whoa! Loved hanging out with Peter, Bethany, Olivia, Adam, Amber, and Zoe on the rooftop taking shots (and I mean this in two ways) and grabbing Japanese for dinner later on as the sun went to sleep.
Forever 21 beanie
If you've been following my blog for some time now, you probably know about my affinity for hats, beanies, headbands, etc. Now times that by one hundred when it's a knit with some cute detail. Been wildly obsessed with this one from Forever 21 - loving the sheen and the gold specks all over. L.A. is experiencing some crazy wind right now (especially in my area, you should see all of the poor trees laying on the gravel) so a beanie is much needed to maintain strands of hair flying in every direction at 50mph. Hope everyone is safe from the crazy Santa Ana winds.
This Saturday, I'll be at the d.RA Spring 2012 Preview Party with a few other bloggers, and I want to invite you if you're in the DTLA area. The event lasts from 3-8pm, so RSVP to email@example.com if you can make it!
Zara denim jacket, H&M polkadot blouse, Kasil Workshop skinnies, Trend Essentials satchel, Jeffrey Campbell boots
Wore this outfit to a little Free People event a few weeks ago. I know during this time people are more drawn to reds and greens and winter whites but something about a golden yellow makes things feel just as festive - especially with this winter(?) we're having in LA... in December! Kasil Workshop saved the day with these "Butterscotch" skinnies - I had a funky day and felt rather helpless as to what to wear. Honestly, I didn't even feel like throwing on anything but these colored jeans are p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Can't wait for them to officially come out for spring! Speaking of Kasil, the winner of the giveaway is Lynzy! Congrats, and to those who didn't win, I'll be hosting another giveaway pretty soon. x
